THE LATEST AT MIDTOWN
Join city leaders, market staff and volunteers, and neighbors for a community meeting about the changes happening to the Midtown Farmers Market site! On Thursday, July 26th from 6-8pm at the Hennepin County Building (2215 E. Lake Street), learn more about the upcoming development, and help the market advocate for a suitable location in 2019 and 2020, as well as a permanent plaza that works well for market vendors and the surrounding community.
Your market is in a time of transition. A permanent plaza is being developed for the market site, which will bring many new opportunities for market vendors and the community! However, we also face challenges, like finding a suitable temporary site for 2019 and 2020, and ensuring that the plan for the new permanent site fits the market’s needs. We need market goers to come to our community meeting with elected officials and voice support! Save the date for Thursday, July 26th, from 6pm-8pm. More details to come soon!
Bikarelly will be at the market sporting stylish and comfortable wares for commuting. Stop by to make a practical upgrade to your wardrobe!
Extend Juneteenth celebrations into the weekend! This week the market stage will feature local performers Lonnie Farrow, of Lonnie “the L.Train”, Truth Maze as emcee, and the Isé-Aṣé Collective.
This Saturday, why not celebrate dads at the market? Grab your pop and pick up some grill-ables for a cookout, take in some tunes, and treat him to some breakfast, lunch, coffee – or all three! See you at the market!
Your weekday market shopping option kicks off today (June 5th)! Find local veggies, seasonings, and other meal fixins at the market from 3pm-7pm on Tuesdays starting today and going through October.
Celebrate bees and pollinators of all kinds at the market this week! Pollinator Works will be selling plants intended to build pollinator habitats (it’s their final week at the market!), plus visit with Corcoran Pollinator Project at their Community Table. You’ll also find our good ol’ market standbys, Master Gardeners to troubleshoot any questions you may have about maintaining a welcoming space in the garden for pollinators.
Kicking off summer this long weekend? Plan your backyard cookout, find road trip snacks, or treat yourself to something tasty for a quiet staycation. Our local vendors have what you need to make this holiday weekend a blast!
Start your weekend off right with FREE feel-good fitness classes at the market. Starting this week, we’ve got FREE Zumba or Yoga classes on offer most weeks. Scope out the schedule:
We recommend you follow up your workout with some breakfast, shopping for local produce (asparagus is in!), and this Saturday – free live music by local duo Iña Yukka – bringing Chilean folk to our market stage**. Check out a sample of their music below and come see them live on Saturday from 9am-11am.
Looking for a special something for your mom this Mother’s Day weekend? Why not pick something up from one of our vendors as a gift this Saturday – or better yet – bring her for brunch and a day out! Plant starts will be available this weekend from Pollinator Works, Green Earth Growers, and Spark-Y. Urban Layers will also be at the market with chicks and chickens to visit!
