THE LATEST AT MIDTOWN
Join us on October 6th anytime from noon until 6pm for neighborhood mingling, music, food and fun! We’ll have a market tent set up with merch for sale! Stop by and learn more about the market and its future plaza located back in its original Corcoran neighborhood.
The Midtown Farmers Market needs your help to finish out its 2019 season strong. We are nearly a third of the way to meeting our 2019 fundraising goal, and every little bit counts. Please consider making a contribution to ensure your favorite Saturday morning (and Tuesday afternoon!) activity can continue on into next year and beyond!
Get your breakfast judging palettes ready – the Midtown Farmers Market’s first ever Breakfast Sandwich Rabble is this week! A silly and delicious breakfast sandwich competition (and mini fundraiser!) to celebrate and support the market. Let’s get ready to rabble!!
In light of National Farmers Market Week, we are thrilled to share that our MN representative Ilhan Omar will be visiting the Midtown Farmers Market today – Tuesday, August 13th between 4:30 and 5:30pm. No public remarks are planned – just a tour! We are delighted to have her tour the market to speak with vendors and community members. Rep. Omar is a strong advocate for local food systems, community health and inclusive public spaces. As a former child and family nutrition educator with the University of MN, she knows first-hand the importance and impact of community-based farmers markets.
This Saturday, July 27th, you won’t want to miss Bike to the Market Day !
At the market, from 8am-1pm, you’ll find performances by Open Eye Figure Theatre, a group ride led by Angry Catfish Bicycle Shop and Coffee Bar , performances organized by Ben Weaver, reusable bag making with artists Lauren Callis and Laura Brown – all sponsored by The Hub Bike Co-op.
If you were at the market, or tuned in to Jazz 88 for Bluegrass Saturday morning this past week, you may have caught Henry Kisitu, of Jajja Wellness. In case you missed it – here’s our own interview with Henry for our Faces of the Market feature.
Jazz 88’s Bluegrass Saturday Morning with Phil Nusbaum will be LIVE at the Midtown Farmers Market from 8am-11am THIS SATURDAY. You won’t want to miss interviews with vendors, find out what’s new this year from market staff, and of course live music from none other than neighborhood favorite – the Roe Family Singers! Make sure to tune in wherever you are (maybe you’ve fled the city this 4th of July weekend?), or see the broadcast for yourself while grabbing some veggies at the market!
Did you know that Seven Sundays got their start by vending at the Midtown Farmers Market? Hannah Barnstable, co-owner of Seven Sundays LLC, discovered muesli on a trip to New Zealand and developed a passion for its heart nature, great taste and health benefits. Barnstable launched her business in the spring of 2011 after hearing about the Midtown Farmers Market. Out of the four original muesli mixes that they sold that summer, three of the flavors are still available and sold in over 4,000 stores across the country!
